Turtles in Seychelles and in Mauritius
As tortoises and turtles are considered to be endangered, their number is decreasing. Fortunately, some countries – like the Seychelles – have adopted important measures in order to protect them. Thanks to these measures, tortoises and turtles can now breed and thrive by hiding their eggs in the sand. In Mauritius, the general public is not really aware of the turtles’ existence and their importance regarding the marine environment, particularly in the coral reef ecosystem. Based on this observation, Editions VIZAVI, together with three NGOs, decided to at least try to do something. That is how the booklet Sea Turtles was added to the collection “Naturally Curious”.
